Montessori & Nature-inspired programs focusing on interactive and nature-based learning.

After-school programs & homeschooling groups interested in plant-based activities.

PROPAGATION WORKSHOP PREVIEW

What is propagation?

It’s the process of creating new plants from existing ones. Instead of starting with a seed, we take a small piece of a healthy plant, called a cutting, and place it in water or soil. Over time, that cutting grows roots and eventually becomes an independent plant!

Propagation is a wonderful way to teach children about the plant life cycle, patience, and the importance of caring for living things. It’s also simple, safe, and exciting because they can see the results of their care throughout the season.

Indoor Garden Initiative: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Where is this program available?
The Indoor Garden Initiative is based in Ottawa, Ontario. If you're within the Ottawa region, I offer in-person facilitation for the workshops. For classrooms or homeschool groups outside this area, I’m happy to ship the full garden kit directly to you and provide a virtual workshop experience that delivers the same educational value and support.

Q: What’s the difference between in-person and virtual delivery?
When I facilitate in person, I guide the session while children do all the hands-on work, planting, exploring soil types, identifying roots, and learning care routines. This active, sensory-based learning enhances engagement and retention. For virtual delivery, I host a 1-hour live session via Zoom or your platform of choice, walking you through setup, educational content, and hands-on demonstrations. I remain available for follow-up questions or troubleshooting, so you’re never alone in the process.

Q: Can homeschoolers use this program?
Absolutely! The Indoor Garden Initiative is a perfect fit for homeschool families. Everything is designed with flexibility in mind, so whether you have one child or a learning pod, you'll receive the same full garden kit, beautifully illustrated materials, and optional guidance for extending the learning over multiple weeks.

Q: What’s included in the initiative?
Each package includes a classroom set and is dependent on which tier is for your classroom. For example of what can be included in the pacakge: a copy of My First ABC Book of Houseplants, tropical plants, classroom poster, custom student name tags, printed activity guides, and more. You also get digital access to printable activities like scavenger hunts, growth trackers, and plant care charts. It’s a fully immersive way to bring nature into your learning space.

Q: What kind of space do we need for the garden?
The planters provided are designed for classroom or home settings with limited space. They can live along a windowsill, a reading nook, or a STEM station.

Q: Is there any support after the initial workshop?
Yes! With a specific package, I offer three months of support, including monthly virtual check-ins to answer questions, troubleshoot plant issues, and offer care tips as your garden grows. You’ll also have access to exclusive seasonal resources and printable activities to keep your students engaged.

Q: Is this a one-time experience or an ongoing program?
You can use this initiative as a one-time launch or an ongoing indoor gardening curriculum. With the included 12-week teaching plan and adaptable resources, many educators choose to continue learning across seasons by planting, observing, and caring for their indoor plants together.

Q: Do we need gardening experience?
Not at all! This program was designed for beginners, teachers, parents, and students alike. You’ll receive step-by-step printed guides and visual instructions, plus ongoing access to me for personalized support.

Q: What makes this different from other classroom garden kits?
This is more than a kit, it's an educational experience. Everything ties back to literacy, science, art, and environmental education through beautifully illustrated plant characters from My First ABC Book of Houseplants. Children learn scientific names, explore global biodiversity, and develop care skills that grow their curiosity and responsibility.

Q: Can we use this for school wellness programs or environmental clubs?
Yes! This initiative works wonderfully for eco-clubs, school wellness weeks, Earth Day programming, and indoor greening initiatives. I’m happy to tailor the experience to suit your group’s goals and provide printable materials that support your event theme.

Q: How do I get started?
You can reach out directly to discuss your classroom or group needs. I’ll help you choose the right package, confirm shipping timelines, and schedule your in-person or virtual workshop.
