Books that Heal: Closing the Chapter with Hope

How Your Brand Can Help Bring Comfort and Connection to CHEO Families This Christmas

Some chapters are meant to end with gratitude, not goodbyes.

This winter, I’m closing the chapter on My First ABC Book of Houseplants, a project that began as a small creative dream here in Ottawa and grew into something much more.

Printed locally in limited quantity, this book was created to teach children and families to cultivate joy through plant care. Each letter of the alphabet introduces a new plant and a new way of seeing growth, both in the world around us and within ourselves.

Now, as I prepare to close this chapter, I want its final pages to do what it was always meant to do: bring calm, comfort, and joy to children and families who need it most.

This holiday season, I’m launching Books that Heal, a community initiative to raise funds for CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario) and donate the remaining copies of My First ABC Book of Houseplants to children and families receiving care.

Each book represents a moment of peace and imagination, a gentle reminder that even in hard times, growth continues.

But I can’t do it alone. I’m inviting corporate partners and community-minded companies to join me in this mission of hope. Together, we can transform the final pages of this project into something deeply meaningful.

The Why?

For families spending the holidays in hospital rooms, small acts of kindness mean everything. An illustrated picture book shared between a parent and child can bring light into long days. A simple gift, a book about nature, can offer comfort when words fall short. This campaign isn’t just about giving books; it’s about giving hope, presence, and the reminder that growth can happen even in the most unexpected places. This campaign is my way of extending that hope, one book, one family, one company at a time.

How Your Brand Can Join the Story

This Christmas, your brand can help plant seeds of hope through corporate sponsorship.
Sponsorships directly fund:

  • The donation of books to children and families through CHEO.

  • Campaign materials and delivery.

  • A collective contribution toward the fundraising goal for children’s health and cancer research.

You can make an impact through one of our Books that Heal sponsorship tiers:

Tier Sponsorship Books Donated Recognition

Workshop Sponsor: $1,500 - One-hour private wellness or office ergonomic workshop, 50 books donated.

Corporate Package: $3,000 - One private wellness or office ergonomic workshop, 25 employee book gifting, 100 books donated.

Hope Partner $5,000 Full campaign partner, one-hour private wellness AND office ergonomic workshop, media mentions, 50 employee book gifting, 200 books donated.

Each partnership includes a tangible way to engage your employees, from "Book & Note" days where teams write messages of encouragement to families, to delivery day volunteering at CHEO.

Closing the Chapter with Hope

This project began with a simple idea: to connect children with the beauty of nature. It’s ending with something even more powerful: a chance to help children heal, grow, and find moments of light this Christmas. Only a limited number of My First ABC Book of Houseplants were ever printed here in Ottawa, making this campaign both rare and meaningful. By partnering with Books that Heal: Closing the Chapter with Hope, your brand becomes part of a collective story, one that blends creativity, community, and care.

Let’s make this holiday season one that grows hope, one book at a time.
